Benefits of drinking hot water.
Water has been proven to be beneficial to the health in many ways, ranging from skin benefits, digestion, to the regular quenching of thirst, and curbing dehydration.
However, little has been said, and little studies have been made about the benefits of drinking hot water. Apart from quenching thirst, hot water has some extra benefits in comparison to regular water.
Body Detoxification and Decreased Stress Levels
Natural health advocates have argued that hot water helps detoxify the body. The argument being, based on the factbthat when hot water raises the body temperature, it causes sweat, which in turn gets rid of toxins. Drinking hot water has also been said to improve the central nervous system functions, therefore, you might feel less anxious when you take it. You can mix it up with some milk, or hot beverage like tea or coffee, and let it work its magic.
Healthier Digestion, Improved Circulation/ Reduced Pain
Water generally aids in digestion and helps relieve constipation. However, the speed of action is the issue in the case of hot water, drinking hot water helps to break down food faster than drinking cold or warm water. It reduces the risk of constipation by supporting regular bowel movements. Hot water also relieves bloats. Also, hot water is a vasodilator, which means it expands blood vessels, which improves circulation, allows the muscles relax and reduce pain. Little wonder why people use hot water bottles, to relieve pain and cramps. Drinking of hot water can relieve pain, although no direct research has been used to link hot water to pain relief, even brief improvements in circulation can support better blood flow to muscles and organs. It is also important to note that hot water exacerbates swelling.
Fighting Colds and Improving Sinus Health
Hot water can be used to fight cold, and relieve running nose and nasal congestions. Consuming hot water, even as tea would improve nasal congestions, and in no time you should be nose blowing and feeling relieved.
Helps Relieve Symptoms of Achalasia
Achalasia is a condition whereby, the esophagus has trouble moving food down to the stomach. People with this condition have trouble swallowing, or sometimes feel like food got stuck on their esophagus, instead of moving down to the stomach.
Drinking hot water for some reason has researched to be helpful to people with this diagnosis, as it allows people with achalasia to digest food more properly.
There’s you have it, the benefits if drinking hot water, please be careful not to let the water be too hot before you drink it, so as to avoid burning of tongue or throat.
Never gulp hot/warm water when you aren’t sure of the temperature, always take a sip first.
Hot water can also be consumed with hot beverages like tea and coffee as we all know, although tea and coffee are beneficial to the health, taking them in extremely high quantity is of risk. Drinking plain hot water is recommended in most cases.
A 2008 study reported an optimal drinking temperature of 136 °F (57.8°C) for coffee. This temperature reduced the risk of burns, but still offered the pleasant sensations of a hot drink.
With this said, you should be advised on the health benefits of hot water, minimize, and possibly completely refrain from the intake of cold water, as it does more harm than good.
